Welcome to our website, this is an informal site intended to provide you with points of contact and further information regarding home education. It is also to keep our regular members up to date with local events and activities. 

We are an informal and relaxed group of individual home educators from the Kent and Sussex areas who meet regularly in and around Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells.

We are part of the growing community of home educators in the South East of England.

Home Education is legal in the UK and the law clearly states that it is the parents' responsibility to ensure that their child(ren) receive an education:

'The parents of every child of compulsory school age shall cause him to receive efficient full-time education suitable - 

a) to his age, ability and aptitude, and

b) any special educational needs he may have,

 either by regular attendance at school or otherwise.' (section 7 of the 1996 education act)

The Local Education Authority do not have to 'authorise' home-education or visit when you have made the decision to educate at home. The choice to home educate and how to do so lies very firmly with the parents.
